About Haulover
Haulover is 1.4 miles of beach backed by dunes and sea grape: the county calls it the largest remaining stretch of undeveloped beachfront in Miami-Dade. It is guarded every day and has two well-known corners. At the north end, between lifeguard towers 12 and 16, is an official clothing-optional section that the county describes as family-oriented, with volunteers who explain the etiquette. At the south end, between towers 2 and 3 by the inlet, dogs can run off-leash.
Between them is an ordinary, uncrowded county beach with concessions and chair rentals. Baker's Haulover Inlet, at the south end, is the place to watch boats run the cut; fishing is allowed along it.
