About Oleta River

Just over 1,000 acres of mangroves, trails and bay shoreline in the middle of the city: Oleta is the beach for people who want to do something besides lie on it. The sandy lagoon beach is calm and shallow, and from the outdoor centre you can rent a kayak or paddleboard and slip into the mangrove channels.

There are no lifeguards. The park often fills up on weekends, and once it closes for capacity it doesn't reopen until the next day, so call ahead or come early.
